What is happening in the Melbourne Art Scene right now?
The Melbourne art scene is alive and thriving, with a number of exciting art exhibitions taking place now.
Some of the highlights include 'Neo-Pop: Works from the Collection' at the National Gallery of Victoria, a survey of artworks from the past 50 years that explore the themes of popular culture and consumerism.
The NGV is also hosting 'Tracing the Line: Drawings from the Collection', an exhibition featuring works by Australian masters such as Arthur Boyd, Charles Blackman, and Fred Williams.
Other notable art exhibitions taking place in the city include 'The Unseen: Art and Anarchism in the 21st Century' at the Immigration Museum, which looks at how contemporary art is being used to challenge the status quo.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia will be presenting 'The Beautiful Game', a major survey of art inspired by football with works from more than 40 leading contemporary artists from across the world.
Melbourne is also home to a number of smaller galleries, including the Margaret Lawrence Gallery, which is currently exhibiting 'Exhibitionism', a collection of art by Australian women artists.
These exhibitions and more offer a unique opportunity to explore the breadth of art that is being created in Melbourne.
